What are trends in US History Through the 1900s onward?
Media changed so dramatically throughout the 20th century. Basically, in the beginning of the century, you had telegraphs and newspapers widely used. Then from there on, there was basically a new type of media introduced at least once a decade. Telephones became popular in the early 20th century, then movie theaters in the 30s, radios in the 40s, TVs in the 50s, then the TV changed dramatically too, with the introduction of commercials and TV shows that were recorded rather than live, so the introduction of reruns as well. 8tracks, video games in the 70s, beepers and VCRs in the 80s/90s, cell phones, computers, now bringing us to today with iPads and iPods and whatnot.
