IPV6 - how do I find out..?

I just started getting notices on my p/c, about this new IPV6 transition, that`s going on. After reading something about it on line, I found out that most newer P/c`s from 2010 onward, have the capability to make the switch, built in. Mine is Gateway I bought in October 2010, so how do I find out if my p/c has that capability?..And how are older p/c`s adapted to this IPV6 ?..is that a simple thing you can like download from microsoft-or does some new part have to be built in?
